What's That Big Screen in the Gathering Place For?

Glad you asked! Actually, it's just there temporarily as a way to conveniently share part of the KOG Council's overall plan for both making our information communications more relevant and accessible to the congregation and visiting preschool families. The technology is referred to as Digital Signage, but we're going to call it our Information Communications Center because we intend to use it to keep up-to-date information available in an easy-to-read and dynamic way. The information on this screen will be able to be easily changed (manually, and on an automated schedule), can permit much more information to be shown on multiple screens, and even allow for video, sound and other types of communications. The current sign will eventually be permanently installed at the Education Wing entrance for keeping the visiting Preschool Families up-to-date on relevant information. This sign was paid for using funds made available from the Wellness budget, as it will benefit this ministry as well. At some point, we hope to add another one in the Gathering/Connecting Place.

This is just one part of the Council's vision, as executed by the Technology Team, to bring KOG's information communications and connections capabilities up to the expectations of today's "connected" congregation members. You may have already seen the improvements within our brand new website, including video recordings of the Sunday sermons and the live calendar links. These are very cost-effective ways to get information out to everyone and keep it up-to-date. In the future, it will help us better connect all of our ministries conveniently and help people who travel frequently to remain connected to KOG's activities wherever they may be.
